White Gurl: Sometimes Life Isn't Fair
White Gurl
Sometimes Life Isn’t Fair
Conception came into the world already caught between two sides of herself—and before she was old enough to understand race, rejection, or hate, the people who were supposed to love her had already begun making her feel like she didn’t belong.
Born to a white mother and a Black father, Conception grows up carrying the pain of being unwanted. Her mother eventually resents her because she is half Black. Her father keeps his distance. And the love, protection, and acceptance every child deserves are replaced by abandonment, anger, and survival.
But pain has a way of changing people.
As Conception gets older, the frightened little girl begins to disappear. Detroit’s streets become both her classroom and her battlefield, and the hurt she once carried quietly begins turning into something much more dangerous. She learns how to survive, how to command respect, and eventually how to lead—rising into a world where loyalty is everything and weakness can cost you your life.
White Gurl is an urban-fiction story about identity, family, rejection, survival, power, and what can happen when childhood wounds are allowed to grow into adult scars.
Conception may have been born into circumstances she never chose.
But what she becomes because of them is a story nobody around her will ever forget.
Sometimes life isn’t fair.
Sometimes pain makes you stronger.
And sometimes the person everyone counted out becomes the one everyone fears.
