This story is set entirely in the early to late 1980s.

New York, California, Miami, Chicago, and Atlanta were widely recognized for their elite and elaborate dance club scenes. But Detroit deserved a spot on that list too. House Music made its way from Chicago and found a soulful home in the Motor City. Ronald Reagan was President, and Mayor Coleman A. Young reigned as the undisputed leader of Detroit. Young Boys Incorporated and The Best Friends Gang were at their peak, spreading fear throughout the city. In 1984, the Detroit Tigers won the World Series. Detroit’s own "Hitman" Thomas Hearns held the welterweight boxing crown, and by 1989, the “Bad Boys” — the Detroit Pistons — were the team to beat in the NBA.

This book is dedicated to the irresponsible men who never learned how to handle a beautiful, committed, intelligent, and strong woman. It serves as a blueprint of what not to do when you're young and in a serious relationship.

This is the story of a man’s unraveling — and the loss of the best thing that ever happened to him. Sometimes, you don’t realize what you have until it’s been completely taken away.

Remember, it’s not always about you. Sometimes, it’s about the person you chose to spend your life with. You are the gatekeeper to that woman’s heart.

Communication, honesty, trust, and compromise — these are the pillars of any lasting relationship. And karma? Karma is real. The pain you cause others has a way of circling back when you least expect it.

In any real union, the most important thing you can do is put each other first — above all else. Be committed. Grow together. Address your issues before going to bed angry. And one more thing: never forget the value of emotional connection. Relationships take work — they’re not easy. But if you give them time, effort, and patience, nothing is more rewarding. Two people, truly in sync, can accomplish anything.

This is a raw and unfiltered story filled with trials and tribulations — love, sex, abuse, and lies. While the characters in this book are fictional, the events... well, they may have happened. Or maybe they didn’t. Who knows?
