House Music made its way from Chicago and found a soulful home in the Motor City. Ronald Reagan was President, and Mayor Coleman A. Young reigned as the undisputed leader of Detroit. Young Boys Incorporated and The Best Friends Gang were at their peak, spreading fear throughout the city. In 1984, the Detroit Tigers won the World Series. Detroit’s own "Hitman" Thomas Hearns held the welterweight boxing crown, and by 1989, the “Bad Boys” — the Detroit Pistons — were the team to beat in the NBA.
